A History of Exceptional Work

 

Since March 1978, James Gunn has served as Principal Owner and President of Coastal Design & Construction, Inc. He has more than 45 years of experience in all aspects of marine construction. His expertise includes living shorelines, dredging, rock structures (revetments, jetties, groins, breakwaters), stream restoration, tidal marsh creation, and wetlands mitigation. Jim has served as co-author on numerous peer reviewed professional publications, such as American Shore and Beach, ASCE Proceedings Coastal Sediments, Applied Marine Science and Ocean Engineering, VIMS, and the Coastal Engineering Manual EM 1110-2-1100 US Army Corps of Engineers. He is a nationally recognized expert on coastal protection and living shorelines, receiving awards and letters of appreciation from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Coastal America, Maryland Soil and Water Conservation, Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Norfolk District Corps of Engineers.
